Will I be hungry?
Not if you follow the program, many people tell me they have trouble eating all the food in the program. So how can you eat a lot of food and still lose weight? It isn't how much food you eat, it is the number of calories in food that matters. Fat has over twice the calories per serving that protein has. A pound of raw vegetables has about 100 calories and fills a large bowl, a candy bar has about 220 calories and you can hold two or three in your hand. I have a big bag of tricks when it comes to hunger.
I don't like vegetables.
I can help you like vegetables, but you don't eat just vegetables, so don't get hung up on vegetables or develop some salad phobia. Most people hate cigarettes when they start smoking, but they are reprogrammed to like them in a short time. Believe me, vegetables aren't as bad as cigarettes, but you can eat other things too.
How fast will I lose weight?
Losing weight too fast isn't healthy. I aim for two to three pounds a week for most of my clients. Three pounds a week is over 150 pounds in a year and few people need to lose anything like that much. The first week you often see a larger weight loss since water retention and the amount of food in the digestive tract come into play the first week. Some people lose five to eight pounds the first week. I have had a few lose around ten pounds the first week and then settle into about two pounds a week. It isn't how fast you lose weight that matters, it is how healthy are you and will you keep the weight off?
How much does this all cost?
Since there are no pills, no injections, no special foods or supplements to buy, this method of weight loss is less expensive than most of the programs you see advertised. The first session is free. On your first paid session you will get a workbook, a CD or mp3 recording and a pedometer and that is included in the session price. Three paid sessions are the fewest that seem to work long term for anyone which makes four total sessions and that makes sense when you think about how often we hear it takes about a month to build a new habit. I have people that come in to lose 100 pounds so they can have their hip or knee replacement surgery or they have to lose a lot of weight for some other medical reason. With these people we often drop to once a month after they are on automatic weight loss and follow up sessions are about half price. I tailor the program to fit your needs. Some people come for the free session, they come the next week for the first paid session and then they come every other week for the follow up sessions, others come every week and some come once a month. So the answer is, it depends on how much weight to you have to lose, how often you come in and are you good at doing the ongoing weight loss yourself or will you need some help? I also have packages to help people save money when they buy several sessions at once and that can help you save money. Come in and it won't cost you a thing for us to work out a program just for you and price it. I don't pressure anyone. If you do the program that choice is up to you.
Can I pay as I go?
Sure, I am here to help you. I don't have a package I am trying to sell like a membership in one payment. I have to make a living and my education, the research, my professional insurance, my rent, my taxes, they all add up and I have to charge for this, but I try hard to keep the expenses down to keep this affordable. You see I was once a very overweight person myself. I understand what it is like to be overweight and feel like there is nothing you can do to change. Come in for the free session and we can talk.
Is this some strict diet?
No, strict diets don't work long term. You actually get a mini cheat every day. Here are a few examples of mini cheats: strawberries with a teaspoon of sugar and a dollop of whipped cream or a 100 calorie bag of cookies or snacks. When you eat healthy most of the time you can slip in a little cheat and it not hurt you. I wasn't overweight because I ate a teaspoon of ice cream, I was overweight because I ate all of the ice cream but a teaspoon.
Is this healthy?
I originally worked with several doctors when I came up with this program and I showed them how I lost my weight. They helped me make some adjustments so people that had certain medical conditions would benefit more from the program. I recently showed it to a doctor for a client and they looked it over and said it was something like what they would come up with if they put the effort into making a weight loss program. On the other hand I have to caution you. Everyone is different. My dad was allergic to bananas, but I can eat them with no problem. Some people are on a protein restricted diet for health reasons. Other people are on a fat restricted diet for health reasons. Your doctor's advice is always the best and you must heed your doctor's advice first and foremost.
I have a health problem, can I do this?
Probably, doctors send people to me all of the time and I often work with the doctors of my clients to tailor the program to their specific medical needs. So the answer is probably yes. We want to get your doctor involved if you have medical considerations and it may take more sessions and time for you to achieve your goal, but if you have a health problem then that only makes this more important. You don't want to have a health problem and then add to it by being over weight. I am sure you know that losing excess weight helps people with many medical problems.
